Hum it.... and I'll play it !

Well peeps, the Limo of choice this month is.... the Black Hummer! Yo hommies get proper respect in da 'hood, diggin' the scene with the gangsta lean.

OK, it is totally and outrageously BLING! But I've been at two weddings in a fortnight where the bride arrived in a black hummer! We all know about the white stretched one driving in Dublin, so we'll say no more about the gangster scene.... This classy looking version is rented by a nice guy originally from Dublin; Martin O'Hare - tel: 086 8177 963, and he'll be bringing it to the Dublin Wedding Show in the Point Depot in January 2007.

These black wedding Hummers are the real deal, full on max style each time - complete with leather seats - chromed wheels - rear crash bars - ideal for all you homegirls and hommies!

By the way - the registration plate sums this one up - it is BIG! Posted by Picasa

Bridesmaids style!

Last year, nearly every bridesmaid I met wore red; crimson, scarlet, burgundy, claret or some other shade of red. It was lovely - but there were lots of different shades of reds and I was looking forward to seeing a different colour.

This year, I've yet to see one Bridesmaid in red - it seems to have disappeared and instead all sorts of pastel shades are now being worn.

They range in design from little cocktail style or fitted bodice and skirts, and everything in between.

I am a bridesmaid this year and the bride gave the four of us bridesmaids free choice which is just amazingingly liberal. We all are wearing black and each dress can be different. So watch this space....things are changing. Posted by Picasa

Pinned Up?

Just after I had taken this photo of PJ - the FOB (Father of the Bride) - we were still at home and Una the bride was still getting ready before the ceremony.

PJ pulled back his jackets lapel to show that his corsage was not pinned up but held with a magnet!

This means the flower stays in place and because of the way it was arranged it also held it the right way up too. It meant he could put it on himself without needing anyone to stick in a pin or pinning him in to the jacket and damaging the cloth.

I'm not sure how many florists offer this option and who introduced the idea, but both PJ and I agreed - as Una is his second daughter to be married, and I was at his first daughter Niamhs wedding just two years ago - we felt it was a big step forward in only 24 months!

It is probably worth asking your florist to do this for the groom and the wedding party. Posted by Picasa

Slipping away....

This is an image from a recent Wedding in Brooklodge (www.brooklodge.com ), the bride and groom slipped away for a quick paddle to cool down in the River in the venue's ample grounds - if you know Brooklodge it is beside the Chapel.

Even though the temperature was in the high 20's centigrade (the 70's Farenheit) that day; the water was really cold - I know, because I had to take off my shoes and wade in later to get a shot!!

Jason and Emma had a fantastic day, they had glorious summer sun for the Carriage ride to the Church in Mount Argus, Dublin. After the Ceremony it was followed by a relaxed, 50 minute Limo ride through the wonderful Wicklow countryside down to Aughrim.

Maybe you too would like to take a quick dip on your special day... and if you do; we'll be there for that special shot! Posted by Picasa

Up! Up! And away!

Recently at Felicity and Pat Byrnes wedding they used a helicopter to travel to their reception. It proved a great way to beat the traffic that day!

It's not the first time I've seen a helicopter at a wedding - but it is the first time I've been to a wedding where a guest - the very well known comedian Brendan Grace - lent it to the happy couple!

The couple used the twin engined Bell JetRanger III (EI LAF, geddit !?!) to fly the 90 minute road trip from Killaloe to Castle Durrow (www.castledurrow.com) - in just 15 minutes.

If you are thinking about a helicopter I'm told you need to be aware that in Ireland we are not always lucky with the weather for flying, there are sometimes problems with availability of landing facilities and it can be difficult to get the timing right on the day.

If you are planning something similar for your wedding - and it is to be a surprise - don't forget to tell the Hotel, the Videographer, Chauffeur and me beforehand - we're all professionals and we can be expected to keep secrets! Posted by Picasa
